Overview :
Data Management
Solutions works primarily with small to medium businesses and
organisations, to provide affordable, effective, user-friendly solutions
to their data management needs.

Profile:
All database-related work is
handled by Steve Schapel. His original academic and professional
background (social work, counselling, psychotherapy, clinical
supervision) has equipped him with a relatable style.
The transition to software
development took place over a number of years. He built his first
simple computer database in 1987, using a program called RapidFile, to
manage a conference he was organising. His new-found affinity for
this type of work soon resulted in requests for help from others, and so
it grew. His first contracted Access application was in 1994
(still in use). But database work continued to be part-time, alongside
his other occupations, until 1999, by which time the word-of-mouth
demand for his services was great enough to support a decision to move
into this work full-time.
Steve has also done extensive
teaching, in a number of computer subjects as well as data management.
He has conducted over 100 Microsoft Access training programs at
community (adult) education centres.
Since 2000, he has also
participated in various online technical discussion forums (newsgroups),
learning a lot, but also contributing of his expertise, resulting in
being recognised by Microsoft as an MVP.
